Overview

What is Logseq?

A graph built from daily notes

Logseq starts in the journal, where every line is a block that can be linked or nested. Backlinks and page references turn those blocks into a knowledge graph without forcing a folder structure. Markdown and Org mode files stay on your device, while queries can surface tasks and notes by tag, date, or property.

  • Best fit: researchers, developers, students, and knowledge-management users.
  • Less suited: teams needing permissions, comments, and shared workspaces.

Free core, optional services

The apps are open source and usable without a subscription. Paid Logseq Sync adds encrypted device syncing, while self-managed folder sync remains possible but needs care around simultaneous edits and mobile storage. The interface rewards keyboard use and block-based thinking. Plugins extend it, but upgrades can expose compatibility or indexing problems. Whiteboards add spatial planning, but collaboration and polish trail mature cloud note apps.
