Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record for software and other digital goods. It collects payments while handling sales-tax and VAT calculation, remittance, invoices, refunds, and chargebacks. Subscriptions, trials, discount codes, license keys, a customer portal, affiliates, and webhooks cover the usual SaaS selling flow. Checkout links can be shared or embedded, letting a small team launch without building its own billing stack.

Costs and operating trade-offs

There is no standard monthly storefront plan; costs are deducted from transactions. The base fee is 5% plus 50 cents per sale, with additional charges possible for subscriptions, international payments, PayPal, or currency conversion. This suits low-volume launches, but the percentage and fixed fee become noticeable on cheap products or at scale. Products and accounts require approval, payouts follow Lemon Squeezy’s schedule, and unsupported business models may need a conventional payment processor instead.
